Meconopsis or Himalayan blue poppy is one of those garden gems that I have always admired in places like Butchart Gardens in Victoria, B.C., and Lakewold Gardens near Tacoma but never thought I could grow it. I tried several times without success but this year I came home from a vacation in Mexico to find it blooming big and bold near my hydrangeas.
